Rwanda Genocide Compared with Hotel Rwanda Essay -- African Politics

The continent of Africa has been continually engaged in civil, tribal and cross national conflicts from colonial liberty up until present daylight. What historians regard as the most efficient genocide in history, occurred in a mere 100 days in the lower-ranking central African country of Rwanda. The Hutus and the Tutsis, two ethnic groups within Rwanda, have been at continual unrest for the past half a century. During the 100 day massacre of 1994, a murder occurred every two seconds resulting in 18% of the Tutsi population being killed. A decade after the war, in 2004, the record Hotel Rwanda was released. The use up followed the story of a Hutu man capital of Minnesota Rusesabagina as he housed over 1200 Tutsi refugees in his hotel. The Hotel De Milles Collines, a five-star resort in the capital city Kigali, was a caoutchouc haven for several hundred Tutsis during the 100 days of slaughter in Rwanda. The purpose of this paper will be to focus on the differenc es between the film Hotel Rwanda and the reality of the Rwandan genocide. I will seek to determine how accurately the film draws from history and how much of the film is fiction. For this essay I will first shade at the history of the relations between the Hutus and the Tutsis dating back to the 1950s, so to grasp a background of the country. She confesses to Lennie that she dislikes Curley because he is angry all the time and says that she comes around because she is lonely and just wants someone to talk to. Gigantism in flying insects occurred in abundance however, arthropods, such as arthropleurids, also experienced gigantism. Arthropleurids existed during the Paleozoic era and were the largest land dwelling arthropods in the history of the Earth. 1m long millipedes be classified as arthropleurids. Amphibians such as the terrestrial labyrinthodont amphibians also became gigantic during the Carboniferous period. Large amphibians reached body lengths of up to 2m. However, these amphibians are limited by respiration through the skin, which is cognise to restrict maximum body size. As technology gets more advanced we are constantly gathering more and more information about the science of human life. With this in mind however, who gets to decide when the cost of breaching human rights and decency out weighs the benefits. Embryonic stem cell research takes excess embryos from in-vitro fertilization and aborted fetuses to conduct research. The research is invasive and leads to the death of the fetus. How can we as Catholics who are called to be socially just promote this research when it challenges our beliefs to such a degree. The research of embryonic stem cells is a desecration to the validity an d sacredness of human-life and is therefore murder of human beings.
